Where did you grow up? Stockton California and Hawaii
What makes you different from the other DJs? "Deception" is my alter ego its "the party guy." I’m really a quiet and shy person by nature but get me behind some turntables and a crowd that’s ready to party and its game over! I have had my share of parting before I was a DJ and I know what the mentality is for the customers that come to a club. They wanna get fucked up & dance with some ladies.. fortunately SO DO I !!! in other words I like to party too.
Where do you normally DJ at? Currently I DJ @ Home Night Club every other Friday & Saturday rotating between DJ JAY-E. I also rotate with Jay-E on Saturdays at Sugar Lounge and Wednesday I’m at XES. I also have other residencies out of town including Masquerade in New Orleans and a few spots in Hawaii.
What is your style? I am very aggressive and creative. I like songs with alot of energy regardless of genre. I love mixing records that make sense or have word play. My favorite one I have come up with is mixing journey - don’t stop believing and repeating when he says "one more time" then go into daft punk "one more time."
How long have you been a DJ? I started back in 95 in California where everyone was a DJ. My next door neighbor had a DJ crew and would throw garage parties every weekend and I would roll up and just be mesmerized by the DJ I wouldn’t even move the whole night so after absorbing everything, That year I asked my family to cop me a turntable & mixer for Christmas. After that all I did was scratch and from then on I was strictly a battle DJ or turntables. I looked up to cats like Invisibl Skratch Piklez (DJ Gbert mix master mike short Kut) I became so good at scratching in 2001 & 2002 my crew Nocturnal Sound Krew in Hawaii won back to back world championship titles. Achieving that took us around the world... Germany to San Francisco it was definitely a great time in my life we were just kids outta high school winning battles internationally.
